With the aim of realizing a decarbonized society, NSK has set the goal of achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions in all business activities. The company has been striving to promote the use of renewable energy, enhancing the rate of self-power generation through the use of solar panels, and making use of J-Credits*, etc. While our Headquarter R&D Centers “RD1” and “A1” plant have achieved carbon neutrality, a new initiative has been launched to introduce EVs at our Head Office.
Many companies and households rely on the use of electricity generated from fossil fuels to charge their EVs, resulting in the emission of excessive volumes of carbon dioxide during this process.
NSK has already procured resources for renewable energy, allowing EVs to be charged using 100 % clean energy that does not emit carbon dioxide at any stage- from generating the power for charging vehicles, to using the power for driving. NSK currently achieves carbon neutrality by offsetting the carbon dioxide emissions from company-owned vehicles that run on fossil fuels with J-Credits.
Moving forward, NSK plans to actively replace hybrid vehicles with EVs by introducing one EV to the “A1” plant in 2024, and five EVs, as well as five charging stations, to the “RD1” facility in 2025.
NSK will continue to promote carbon neutrality through these initiatives.
*The J-Credit system is a scheme in which the government certifies the reduction or absorption of greenhouse gases achieved through the efforts of companies and municipalities, and allows the purchasing and selling of credits.
